Turning Voluminous Cans into Dense, Salable Shred

Used beverage cans are one of the worst materials to store and ship loose: a ton of UBC occupies a disheartening volume, loads unevenly, and gets discounted by every buyer who has to re-handle it. The TG-CanShred 200 is a compact twin-shaft shredder purpose-sized for the job: a 300 x 400 mm feed chute matched to can dimensions, 2 x 7.5 kW drive on ordinary workshop power, and a rated 0.4 to 1.0 ton per hour - the right machine for collection centers, supermarket back-of-store operations, and small depots consolidating UBC and light aluminum packaging.

The economics it addresses are pure volume: shredded cans load containers and trailers to a fraction of their loose volume, weigh accurately, and feed balers or downstream separation without bridging. For a depot handling one or two tons of cans per week, the machine pays for itself in reclaimed transport capacity and cleaner-graded sales.

Sized for the Material

  • Narrow chute geometry: the 300 x 400 mm opening prevents feeding bulk trash while accepting cans and thin aluminum packaging at a controlled rate.
  • Closely spaced toothed shafts: the disc spacing is set for thin-gauge feed, so cans are sheared flat and torn open in one pass rather than bouncing on oversized cutters.
  • Perforated discharge screen: a bottom screen retains pieces until they reach the target size, so output is uniform enough to feed a baler or separator directly.
  • Auto-reverse protection: a stray oversized piece triggers automatic shaft reversal instead of a motor trip.
  • Standard workshop power: 2 x 7.5 kW runs on ordinary industrial three-phase supply - no high-voltage installation, no generator, minimal installation cost.

Operating Cost That Matches the Job

A can shredder does not need a 100 kW motor; it needs the right cutter geometry and a machine that runs reliably on standard power. The TG-CanShred 200's total connected load is modest enough to run on existing depot supply, its slow shaft speed keeps noise low enough for back-of-store and indoor duty, and the bolt-on toothed discs are replaceable with hand tools when wear eventually demands it. For depots batching cans by shift, the compact footprint lets the machine sit directly beside the collection cage, cutting internal handling to a wheelbarrow trip.

As a sizing check, the rated 0.4 to 1.0 t/h window covers roughly 3 to 8 tons of UBC over a single eight-hour shift, which is why this machine is specified for depot-scale weekly volumes rather than continuous plant duty. If your volumes sit above that window, the larger models in our twin-shaft range take over where this one reaches its limit.

Typical Applications

  • Used beverage cans from collection and buy-back operations
  • Aluminum packaging and thin-gauge tray stock
  • Volume reduction ahead of balers and container loading
  • Indoor and back-of-store processing on standard three-phase power

Before You Order

Confirm your weekly can tonnage, available floor space, and whether output feeds a baler, a container, or a separator. Throughput is rated for UBC; heavier aluminum or steel contamination reduces it. Our engineers confirm the discharge arrangement - gravity, bin, or conveyor - during quotation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can it take steel cans too?

The cutter spacing is set for thin-gauge feed including tinplate steel cans. Mixed light packaging is within range; throughput on steel is lower than on aluminum.

What power supply does it need?

An ordinary industrial three-phase supply at 380 V / 50 Hz or 460 V / 60 Hz. No special installation is required for the 2 x 7.5 kW load.

How does output feed a baler?

The screened discharge produces flat, uniform pieces that feed balers without bridging. Discharge height and collection arrangement are matched to your baler during quotation.

What about paint and liquids on the cans?

Empty cans with surface paint are normal feed. Residual liquids should be drained as standard practice; the machine is not a drying or de-greasing device.
